Upside Down Fortune

One of the fun things about the Lunar New Year are all the amazing traditions.  Our favorites are of course the lion and dragon dances, red pocket money and all of the delicious food.  When decorating for the New Year you usually hang up signs with the character for Fortune 福 (fú) upside down.  My dad shared with me that you do this to show that good fortune has visited your home.  The Chinese word for "upside down" (倒 - Dào) sounds like the word for "here" (到) so in essence good fortune is already here!
